The capital city of the region Campania is Naples, one of the most popular cities of Italy.

Here is located the famous Amalfi Coast, which belongs to the UNESCO world heritage. Every township has its own characteristics, specialties and traditions. Many typical Italian products are from here, as for example the Limoncello.

Another fascinating region in Campania is the Cilento, where the National Park is located. The localities by the sea are: Agropoli, Palinuro, Camerota and Castellabate. Some of the most beautiful health resorts Campania are located on the island of Ischia, which even in antiquity was a favored thermal destination. Its thermal springs in Roman times were called a “Gift of the Gods”. Another locality where guests can find an excellent health resort Campania is Massa Lubrense, in direct proximity to Punta Campanella. In the following thermal localities you can find many health resorts: Contursi, Pozzuoli, Torre Annunziata, Castellammare di Stabia, Villamaina, Vico Equense, Telese Terme, Agnano Terme and Montesano sulla Marcellana.

Naples

Naples is one of the most important cities of Italy, many famous Italian figures have their origins in this city and in its surroundings: Totó, Enrico Caruso, Massimo Troisi, Sofia Loren, Eduardo de Filippo and the brothers Giuseppe and Carmine Abbagnale. In 1995 the historic center of Naples was declared to a world heritage site, in 1997 the region “Somma- Vesuvio” was declared to an UNESCO biosphere reserve. In the XVI century Naples was the most populated city in the Occident and even in times of the ancient Greece it represented an important city. The most important buildings of Naples are: the Ovo Castle, the Maschio Angioino, the Saint Francis of Paola- Basilica, the Roseberry Villa.

Positano

Positano is a popular locality on the Amalfi Coast in the province of Salerno, which even in times of the Old Rome was a favored holiday destination, because of the mild clime and the picturesque landscape. The Amalfi Coast belongs to the world heritage and offers a singular landscape. The small city influenced the fashion world with the famous “Positano style”, which rose after the Second World War. This fashion style takes old cloth pieces and makes new articles of it. A lot of stars followed this style: Liz Taylor, Charles Bronson, Michell Hunziker, Ivana Trump and Renzo Arbore.

Ravello

Ravello belongs to the Amalfi Coast and is one of the most beautiful places there. Popular personalities like the Scottish noble Francis Neville Reid, Richard Wagner, Barbra Streisand, Virgina Woolf, John Maynard Keynes, Alcide de Gasperi, Romy Schneider, Graham Greene, Gina Lollobrigida visited the locality. Here the musician Richard Wagner found the inspiration for his “Parsifal”. The Ravello music festival offers many famous orchestras as for example the orchestra of the Kirov theatre of Saint Petersburg, the Royal Philarmonic Orchestra, the Philarmonikas from Saint Petersburg, the national symphonic orchestra of RAI etc.

Ischia

Ischia is the biggest island in the archipelago of the Phlegrean Islands, through numerous boats it’s connected to Naples and it’s the most important island of Italy after Sicily and Sardinia. Ischia features the following townships: Ischia, Lacco, Ameno, Casamicciola Terme, Forio d’Iscia, Serrara and Fontana. Ischia isn’t famous only because of the mild temperature and the crystalline water, but also for its precious thermal springs. This water is beneficial for numerous illnesses and ailments, the most popular guests of Ischia were Angela Merkel, Henrik Ibsen, Truman Capote, Wystan Hugh Auden and the poet and Nobel laureate Josif Aleksandrovic Brodskij. Thanks to the singular landscape the island served as scenery for numerous Italian and international movies such as “Cleopatra” with Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, “The Talented Mr. Ripley” with Jude Law and Matt Damon.

Amalfi

Amalfi is one of the most beautiful and famous localities in Campania, it is an old sea republic. During the Middle Ages the ships of Amalfi were among the best equipped ships and could compete against the ships of Venezia and Genova. The sea republic Amalfi had storehouses in Ptolemais, Laodikea, Tel Aviv- Jaffa and Cyprus. The small city Amalfi is the name patron of the whole coast, which is among the most favored tourist destinations in Italy. The Amalfi Coast was declared to an UNESCO world heritage site in 1997. Did you know that the compass was invented by Flavio Biondo from Amalfi? Moreover Amalfi is famous for its paper, it’s called “Bambagini”- a handmade high quality paper used only for exercises. Another typical product of the locality is the lemon of the Amalfi Coast, which is protected by the DOP brand.
