Sicily is the most southern region of Italy, it comprehends the islands Lipari, Linosa, Pantelleria, Lampedusa, Favignana and Panarea.

This region always represented a meeting point of different folks and cultures, as for example the Normans, the Spain, the Arabs or the Greek, the region is located in the heart of the Mediterranean. Siciy isn’t only famous for its singular cities like Palermo and Catania, but even because of the ancient buildings, which trace back to the great Hellenic times.

An example is the „Temple Valley“ in the surroundings of Agrigento, Selinunte, Siracusa, all founded by Greek colonists. Other art cities of Sicily are Noto and Modica, famous because of their chocolate production. Even Sicily is a destination for skiing, with panorama on the sea…the clime on the Mount Etna is similar to that in the Alps! Sicily is also a common destination for the holidays by the sea with localities like: Taromina, San Vito lo Capo, Erice, the Pelagian or the Aeolian Islands.

The cities in which you can find a health resort Sicily are the bathing resorts Giardini Naxos, Sciacca, Taormina…but even the capital city of Palermo offers perfect conditions for a wellness holiday. This city is distinguished by many ancient buildings, especially such which have Norman roots. Another holiday destination for a wellness holiday Sicily is the small city of Mazara del Vallo, in its surroundings there are two WWF nature protection areas.

Taormina

Taormina is a common bathing destination, already in the 19th century it was very popular. Famous guests of Taormina were: Goethe, Lady Florence Treverlyan- a direct relative of Queen Victoria and wife of the Taormina’s mayor, Friedrich Nietzsche, Richard Wagner, the tsar Nicola I, Oscar Wilde, Garbiele d’Annunzio and many Hollywood actors like Ava Gardner, Greta Garbo or Liz Taylor.

Sciacca

Sciacca is located on the southern coast of Sicily and is a thermal and bathing resort. In winter there are coming numerous visitors to the famous Carnival. The ruins of Selinunte and Agrigento belong to the world heritage and are located in the surroundings of Sciaccia. The grandfather of the famous singer Jon Bon Jovi and the father of the cartoonist Joseph Barbera were born here. Barbera illustrated the Smurfs, the bear Yogi, the Pink Panther, Tom & Jerry and the Flintstones.

Palermo

This is the capital city of the island, very famous for the Norman, baroque and neoclassical buildings and monuments. The beauty of the landscape makes it to one of the most beautiful destinations in the Mediterranean. This city was the setting of numerous movies.

Giardini Naxos

Giardini Naxos is a bathing resort in the surroundings of Taormina, it offers some luxury and elegance but is also popular for its numerous leisure activities. It represents a common destination for French or German tourists. Even archeological excavations of the ancient Greek city Naxos from the V century B.C. are findable here.

Butera

Butera is a mountain suburb of Marina di Butera and Falconara, which are two tourist localities of Sicily, which are located in the province of Caltanissetta. Butera is connected to the „Vespri Siciliani“, which contributed to the chase away of the French from Sicily in the XIII century.
