Forte dei Marmi
Forte dei Marmi is an elegant and popular bathing resort in Versilia. During the last years there has been noticed a great increasing of Russian tourism, so much that the locality is called “Versiliagrad”. In the past Forte dei Marmi represented a common destination for the summer holidays of the Agnelli family and the singers Mina, Andrea Bocelli and Zucchero.
San Gimignano
This is the most visited historical place of Tuscany, the center of the city has been declared to a World heritage site by the UNESCO. This place is surrounded totally by medieval walls, from the 16th century the city wasn’t so important anymore and could therefore remain in a very good condition. An important personality here was Dante Alighieri, in 1300 he lived in San Gimignano. Important artists worked here like for example Benozzo Gozzoli, Domenico Ghirlandaio and Piero del Pollaiolo.
Figline Valdarno
Figline Valdarno: this locality was cited by Dante in the XVI° canto of the paradise in the popular masterpiece “Divina Commedia”. Thanks to its proximity to Florence it’s an important tourist destination in Tuscany. In November there takes place a famous agricultural trade, where farmers from all over Italy take part. During the manifestation visitors can discover, taste and buy a lot of typical products.
Colle Val d’Elsa
This city is called the „city of crystal“, as there are produced about 95 % of the Italian glass and crystals, which on their part represent 15 % of the world market. This city houses one of the oldest communal libraries of Italy. Thanks to its picturesque landscape and the ancient architecture Colle Val d’Elsa was the setting of numerous movies.
Cortona
Cortona is the center of the Chiana valley, which is located in the province of Arezzo on the border to Umbria. This historical town was the setting of numerous movies, as for instance “Life is beautiful”. Famous personalities like Santa Margherita da Cortona, the painter Signorelli and the architect Pietro da Cortona were born here. The popular singer Jovannotti is living here.
Castiglione della Pescaia
This is a bathing resort, which was priced with 5 sails by the union Legambiente, moreover it’s among the first positions in the “Touring Club Italiano”. Therefore the locality is called “little Switzerland”. Furthermore the place offers cultural treasures; the historic center shows traces and artifacts from the Middle Ages. Here is located the Marine protection area of Europe.
